Two things: First, God gives a promise. Then, God tests us in and through this promise.

Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him. Psalm 105:19
Prayer in the classroom is powerful.

In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears. Psalm 18:6

"All of the children who were with her are now safe, there was one minor injury – a cut to the head, said Crosswhite – and she herself emerged with only some scrapes on her feet, which she called "irrelevant, considering what could have happened."
Genesis 1
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

So what caused the earth to become this way? Job 9:5-7 reveals a bit more about the state of this void, formless, and dark earth.

Job 9
5 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not; which overturneth them in his anger;
6 which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble;
7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars;

Here we see a God so angry He moves mountains out of their places. Not only does He move them, but He turns them upside down. He shakes the earth out of its place. God was so angry, He commanded the sun not to rise and sealed up the stars. Since when has man ever known God to be so angry that He turns the mountains upside down, shakes the earth out of its place, commands the sun not to rise, and seals up the stars? Has anything like this ever happened since man has been on this earth? No. Does this happen at the during the tribulation or the return of Christ? No. Does this happen during the millennial reign? No. What about when the new heavens and the new earth are created? Not even then....this had to have been a pre-adamic event. There was a supernatural darkness that Egypt experienced as a result of judgment, but it was not world wide. During the great tribulation, darkness shall invade the kingdom of the anti-christ, but it will not be world wide. I don't believe Job 9:5-7 can be post adamic.

This happened at Genesis 1:2. Why was there darkness? Because God sealed up stars and commanded the sun not to rise. What is the first thing God said on the first day of creation restoration? Let there be light. Now the light shines, but remember there is no sun. The sun does not come back into operation until day four. Three days there is light and no sun. It was the presence of God that brought the light....

This post is a continuation of something I began posting earlier about some interesting thoughts and questions concerning the creation of the world. I believe many of these questions can be answered by revelation of the Spirit through Scripture. However, I understand that what I have come to believe about the creation is very controversial. But it is what I have come to believe. The God I love and serve can do all things. He created and encompasses the entire universe and yet can comprise His presence between two small cherubim on an ark. This unimaginably awesome God was made a man. He could not only raise people from the dead... but He himself was crucified, died, and rose from the grave. This God, the Heavenly Father, by Jesus Christ His son, as revealed by His Holy Spirit saved me in every way that a person can be saved. He truly can do all things.

So continuing from the previous post concerning this subject.

Arise and Shine

Isaiah 60
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Have you ever wondered about the creation account given in the book of Genesis? Whether it be a literal account or a mythology that we are meant to glean some kind of spiritual truth from? Is the earth around six thousand years old or is it much older? What do we do with the ancient things that have been uncovered such as the remains of the dinosaurs? As a followers of Jesus how do these things fit into Christianity? Friends, I have been convinced that there are answers within the Scriptures. Attempting to address these issues moves us into the realm of biblical theory... where the Scriptures may not specifically state that something took place, but it can be inferred that something definitely happened. As it pertains to the Scriptures, just about everything from Genesis to Revelation deals primarily with the Adamic race(the decendants of Adam). Anything else in the Scriptures can be looked at as a kind of frame for this picture... that picture being God dealing with mankind. The frame is important but only to present the picture. But in order to get the picture right, I think we have to get the frame right. It is also important to acknowledge that there was an undetermined period in the history of the universe before the creation of Adam. Before God created man He created the angelic hosts... there was a rebellion started under the angel Lucifer. Acknowledging this reality brings about some intriguing thoughts and questions about the creation account... not to mention the origins of the spiritual conflict we are involved in. Who are we at war with? What are these unclean spirits that we seem to be locked into conflict with? How do we fight? I think these are ponderings that need to be wrestled with from time to time. But again, to do so I think we have to start at the beginning...

Genesis 1
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Read Acts 5:12–32

  Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him . . . laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. Acts 5:17-18 NKJV
* * *
  Through the preaching of Spirit-filled apostles, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. (5:14) The result was that the High Priest and other Sadducees were filled with jealousy, and had them arrested.
  After a miraculous escape from prison, the apostles were again taken to the High Priest who said, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,…yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching…" Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! (5:28-29)
  One of the most convincing proofs of the power of the Holy Spirit was the courage of these ordinary uneducated men. But with God's help, they became extraordinary witnesses for the kingdom.

  Lord, I pray that You will give this ordinary woman an extraordinary filling of Your Spirit today. Help me to keep eternal values in view as I do my daily tasks, and try to love my family and other people as You love me.

  Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ. Acts 5:42 NIV
